Remember that YouTube video of the prisoners at the Philippine prison who recreated Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video back in 2007? Well, they are just as heart-broken as the rest of us at the news of his death.
“My heart is heavy because my idol died,” said Byron Garcia, security consultant at a Philippine prison who organized the famous video of 1,500 inmates doing a synchronized dance to “Thriller.”
The video has had more than 24 million hits on YouTube; lots of people looking at it since Thursday night.
The inmates held a tribute for Jackson on Saturday by performing their “Thriller” dance again. Tourists reportedly flocked to the prison, south of Manila, to watch hundreds of inmates in orange jumpsuits dance like Michael Jackson.
The prisoners also danced to "Ben"' and "'We Are the World" for 700 spectators who watched from a second-floor hallway overlooking the prison yard.
"Even as a kid, he was already my idol," said Crisanto Nieri, 38, who danced Jackson's part in "Thriller" in the performance and is serving seven years on drug charges.
Here's the video of Saturday's performance. (Watch the original video below.)
